How might we create a space for and with young people in a new city center?

Working with 3 groups of school children in Kiruna, Wandering Objects reimagines what a play sculpture co-created with young people can look like in their new city centre.

Through a series of co-design workshops, we created a cardboard explorer base and accompanying fantastical tools to explore a new city centre. The children’s creations informed the design decisions for the final sculpture. Wandering Objects became a space where children can climb, hide, create, and imagine. A space in a small forested area opposite the main square in the city, a space we hope they can call their own, a space to wander and explore, a space to be loud and proud 💓🤲🚸🛠️📍

This project was made possible with funding from Konstfrämjandet Norrbotten, gorgeous materials from the old City Hall and lots of sweat and swearing with the stellar team: Agata, Benji, Aria & Milma
